Easter Sunday - 31 March 2013

Sunday 31 March 2013 - Easter Services

5.30 am – The Great Vigil and the First Mass of Easter

9.30 am – Procession and Solemn Mass

In the early hours of Easter Day, we gather outside before dawn, and a fire is kindled and blessed. From the new fire, the first light of Easter burns. We move into the hall to hear the Easter Proclamation, readings from the Old and New Testament, and the Resurrection Gospel. We move again, this time into the Church, and gather around the Font to renew our baptismal vows, and to celebrate the sacrament of Baptism.  Finally, we move to the Altar, to offer the Eucharist once more.

Our rejoicing continues with breakfast celebration of the new life we have in Christ and each other.

The services of Easter Day continue at 9.30am with a Solemn Mass, including a procession and choir.
