Revd Sarah Macneil elected Bishop of Grafton, NSW

The Revered Dr Sarah Macneil has been elected Bishop of Grafton and will become the first woman to lead an Anglican diocese.

Revd Macneil is currently working as a senior associate priest at Canberra's Holy Covenant Anglican Church and was previously Dean of St Peter’s Cathedral, Adelaide.

Several other Anglican women are working as Assistant Bishops in Australia. Revd Macneil said she was “surprised, overwhelmed, humbled” to be the first woman elected an Anglican Diocesan Bishop.

The concecration and installation service is expected early next year.
