Andrew Georg - piano,
Director of Music at Christ Church, North Adelaide

Adelaide premiere
The core work in this program is the lyrical song cycle, 'Now touch the air softly' written by Australian composer Calvin Bowman in 2007. The seven songs in the cycle are set to poems of William Jay Smith, a former American Poet Laureate.

Another work perhaps new to Adelaide audiences is the beautiful song, 'The Call', by English composer Patrick Hawes, a setting of the poem by George Herbert.

Michele and Andrew will also present settings of other poems in English by American composers Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland, Ricky Ian Gordon and English composers Peter Warlock and Thomas Morley.
