Bp Kay Goldsworthy elected Bishop of Gippsland, VIC

The first woman consecrated as a bishop in Australia in 2008, Bishop Goldsworthy is currently working as Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Perth. As Bishop of Gippsland, she will be the second woman in Australia working as an Anglican diocesan bishop.

Kay has been a clerical member of the Anglican Consultative Council while contributing to the national church on the General Synod Standing Committee and various General Synod commissions. She is a Trustee of the Diocese of Perth and a member of the Boards of Anglicare WA, Amana Living Inc, LITMUS (Liturgy & Music Advisory) Committee and is Chair of GFS – An Anglican Ministry in the Perth Diocese.

In 2008, Bp Goldsworthy visited our parish for St Mary Magdalene’s Dedication Festival. It was the first time a female bishop had presided in the Diocese of Adelaide, and a great occasion for all concerned.

We congratulate Bp Goldsworthy on her appointment and pray for her in this new ministry.
